Anti Ragging & Student Safety Programme

About the program:

Nawada Vidhi Mahavidyalaya organised a special lecture on the topic "Anti-Ragging & Student Safety Programme" for newly admitted students of the year 2023. The country passed new legislation prohibiting ragging because it has grown to be a threat a cause of fear and shock for newcomers. Creating a campus environment where students can pursue their studies free from intimidation, humiliation, or harm is our top concern at a ishan, as ragging poses a serious threat to students' physical and emotional well-being. Therefore, the programme was designed to educate students on the laws in the nation about ragging and how they impact the lives of those who are victimised by it.

objective:

The programme aims to educate and sensitise the students about the consequences of ragging and encourage them to actively prevent and report any such incident with the help of such programmes Every student is made aware of the college codes of conduct, anti-ragging measures, and discipline standards.

Planning and responsibilities:

  1. The students were informed about the lecture by way of a notice.
  2. A poster for the lecture was released informing the students about the details.
  3. The speakers for the lecture were invited.

Summary:

  1. A special lecture was organised for the new students of Nawada Vidhi Mahavidyalaya focusing on Anti-ragging. 
  2. Mr. Shiv Kumar, Mr. Prashant Prakash presented the topic for the first-year law students.
  3. They enlightened the students on the topic with various examples and incidents that have happened recently.
  4. Mr. Shiv Kumar addressed the students about the origin and menace of ragging in India and explained the legal consequences of involvement in such activities.
  5. He also reiterated that anyone who is actively or passively, or is a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished.
  6. Mr. Prashant Prakash about the various penal provisions & other sanctions that would be ensured regarding the erring students.
  7. She explained to the first years that while these rules are to protect the juniors, the should not be misused by them as it could destroy someone career.
  8. Many helplines ware suggested by the speakers to the students for their immediate rescue.
  9. They also answered the queries of the students and clarified their doubts relating to the issue of ragging.
  10. The students then took the pledge not to involve themselves in ragging of any form and to make the institution ragging-free.
  11. The guest lecture was successful & students were able to learn about anti-ragging laws.

Key Outcomes:

  1. Students at the college firmly resolved to take a pledge the withstand united in making their college "Ragging Free".
  2. Students learnt to prohibit any act which causes, or is likely to cause, any physical, psychological, or physiological harm of apprehension or shame, or embarrassment to a student.
  3. Nawada Vidhi Mahavidyalaya regularly conducts such lectures for our students the understand their health and overall development of the students.
